Useful research is architecture.
Information acquires value through relationship. A source belongs inside a question. A fact belongs inside a chronology, comparison, argument, model, or decision. A presentation belongs to an audience with a reason to care.
Atlas was formed around that understanding. The practice does not separate gathering from thinking or thinking from presentation. It treats the entire commission as one problem of disciplined inquiry and deliberate form.
What the name signals
Breadth without vagueness. Structure without rigidity.
Atlas suggests reach across subjects, sources, and borders. Concordat suggests an ordered agreement among things that did not begin in agreement. Together, they describe the work.
Direct accountability
Every commission should have a defined purpose, source standard, boundary, final work product, and person responsible for using it.
Respect for the reader
Atlas writes and designs for intelligent readers. Complexity is clarified where possible and preserved where simplification would be dishonest.
